ConstructionCrews have completed work on Amazon.com Inc.’s latest Ontario warehousing facility after roughly a year of construction.
Manulife Investment Management, the property’s owner and landlord, announced the completion of the project in Scarborough Dec. 8.
Quebec-based Broccolini took on the design and construction of the new one million sq. ft. facility, located on a 52-acre site at Steeles Avenue East and Tapscott Road. Work was finished on time and on budget, the builder noted.
Like Amazon’s growing roster of fulfillment centres across Canada, the building will serve as a shipping hub to connect shoppers with their online purchases.
Since work started in Scarborough, Amazon has broke ground on another warehousing facility in nearby Ajax, Ont. Broccolini is also heading construction on that 1.1 million sq. ft. project, which is expected to be completed next year.
