A Sweden-based firm that makes remote field monitoring systems for construction and infrastructure projects is adding to its Canadian footprint with a new office in Ottawa.

Sigicom, whose equipment tracks metrics such as vibrations, noise, dust and geotech engineering, said the new local office will handle sales, support and service for the Canadian market. The new locale builds on the company’s existing presence in Europe and the U.S.

“Historically, Canada has been a global leader in the field of vibration and noise monitoring. I am truly excited to bring the latest technologies in remote monitoring back to our market with an accessible direct to consumer approach,” said Curtis McGrath, head of sales for Sigicom Canada, in a release.

“Our goal is to provide Canadians with turnkey solutions that use less resources to install and require fewer job site visits afterwards, he added.

Through its INFRA System, Sigicom says customers can easily monitor and then act on a range of metrics tracked by its remote platform. B.C.’s Municon West Coast Monitoring Ltd. and Quebec’s Solroc are among its Canadian users, Sigicom said.
