Golden Weld completed for pipeline running from Dawson Creek to Kitimat, B.C. Next steps include mechanical completion and commissioning.

TC Energy has reported that its Coastal GasLink project has achieved 100 per cent pipe installation across the entire project route running from Dawson Creek to Kitimat, B.C. The final weld, also known as the “Golden Weld,” took place at the base of Cable Crane Hill in Section 8 West earlier this month.

From the Wilde Lake Compressor Station to the company’s metering station in Kitimat, roughly 670 kilometres of pipe has been installed, tested and backfilled, connecting northeastern B.C. to LNG Canada’s facility on the west coast.

With physical construction now complete, the company is embarking on next steps, which will include mechanical completion, which it says is on track for its year-end target, as well as commissioning and other finalization processes such as clean-up and reclamation along the route.
