SNC-Lavalin appoints new president and CEO

SNC-Lavalin recently announced the appointment of Robert Card as its new president and CEO starting October 1, 2012.

The Montreal-based firm stated it selected Card for “his excellent credentials in leading engineering, construction and operations businesses internationally.”

Card has held positions operating and managing infrastructure and energy projects in the industry for more than 40 years, including various positions at CH2M Hill Companies Ltd. group, such as: president and group chief executive of international division; president of the government, environment and nuclear division; president of the facilities and infrastructure division; president of the energy, water and facilities division; and member of the board of directors.

Other positions previously held by Card include: chief operating officer for the consortia responsible for delivery of the $15-billion London Olympics complex; overseeing the $7-billion operation, cleanup and decommissioning project for the Rocky Flats nuclear facility for U.S. Department of Energy from 1996 to 2001; and Under Secretary to the U.S. Department of Energy from 2001 to 2004.

In addition to his roles as president and CEO at SNC-Lavalin, Card will become a member of the board of directors.
