Feds, N.W.T. commit to $20M project to add another link to eventual Mackenzie Valley Highway
By On-Site Staff
RoadsGovernments in Ottawa and Yellowknife have set aside a total of $20 million to pay for a 14-kilometre all-season road in central Northwest Territories.
The project follows the completion of an adjacent segment of road, running southeast out of Norman Wells, to Canyon Creek. That project was completed in 2018 and the latest work will stretch the all-season access road to nearby Prohibition Creek.
The new permanent road will eliminate the need to construct a winter road through the area each year and forms another small link in a chain of loosely connected pieces that will eventually become the Mackenzie Valley Highway.
