Vermeer launches first electric-powered reclaimer

By Rob Blackstien

In the wake of its 2020 acquisition of electric-powered horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and fluid systems technology from Normag in 2020, Vermeet has released its first electric-powered reclaimer, the R500.

This new all-electric reclaimer is a key part of the company’s strategy to serve the growing market for electric-powered jobsite solutions.

Available as a skid or trailer, it’s prepared for forklift use as a skid, while the trailer is equipped with a height-adjustable surge brake which can be employed for a range of towing vehicles.

“With this technology already proven in operations across Europe, our Vermeer team can now fast-track an electric HDD offering that helps operators better control their cost of operations and jobsite impact through reduced fuel use, near-zero emissions, limited noise and an overall smaller rig footprint,” said Vermeer President and CEO Jason Andringa.
