Leica brings semi-autonomous functionality to iXE3 3D platform

The iXE3 3D excavator machine control solution from Leica Geosystems can now automatically control boom, bucket, tilt and tilt rotator bucket functions on a range of excavators from major OEMs.
The technology aims to increase machine productivity and accuracy to target depths, while decreasing operator fatigue and fuel consumption. It also allows less experienced operators to take on more intricate tasks.
“I am convinced that a more focused and alert operator is a safer operator, decreasing the risk of accidents and costly rework errors,” said Kris Maas, product management director in the machine control division at Leica Geosystems.
The system will be rolled out first in Liebherr, Case, Doosan, Hitachi and Deere excavators.
