The new Komatsu America Corp. WA900-8 wheel loader is purpose-built for loading haul trucks.

The heavy equipment manufacturer said the 116,400 kilogram (256,618 pound) wheel loader is equipped with a Tier 4 Final engine and incorporates a new bucket design aimed at maximizing bucket fill and productivity.

“The large pillarless cab offers great visibility, and the higher capacity air suspension seat along with the Electronically Controlled Suspension System (ECSS), provides a smooth ride for better travel performance to keep operators comfortable throughout long shifts,” Robert Hussey, product marketing manager at Komatsu America Corp., said in a release.

Designed specifically for loading 70- to 150-ton haul trucks, the loaders uses Komatsu SmartLoader Logic to reduce fuel consumption and maintain production levels. It uses the company’s Advanced Joystick Steering System (AJSS) and Electronic Pilot Control (EPC) to give operators quick and precise responses. It also has a semi-autonomous dig system to help less experienced operators deliver results.

A seven-inch monitor with dedicated rearview camera comes standard, along with an onboard diagnostics system.
