Two more excavators are joining John Deere’s lineup of machines available with factory-installed and -calibrated SmartGrade grade control systems.

The equipment maker said April 6 the 210G LC and 350G LC can now be outfitted directly from the plant with the 3D system that increases productivity and accuracy on the job site.

“By incorporating precision technology, such as SmartGrade, on our excavator lineup, we are boosting job site productivity and efficiency while enhancing the capabilities of our operators,” Justin Steger, solutions marketing manager for John Deere, said in a release “However, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, and contractors need options to pair the right technology with their business needs. This is where customers really benefit from the flexibility of our grade management path.”

Deere offers four grade management options — running from SmartGrade, and SmartGrade-Ready with 2D, to 3D Grade Guidance and 2D Grade Guidance. Upgrade kits for the options are also available, meaning contractors can upgrade to a different tier at a later date.

Among other features, semi-autonomous precision and safety technology is also available. Virtual Front, for instance, automatically stops the bucket cutting edge from contacting the front of the machine at a selectable distance, and over-dig protect helps eliminate rework. Machine uptime is also in focus, with SmartGrade Remote Support enabling dealers to remotely monitor and support the machine from miles away.
