Volvo Construction Equipment has added a new custom-built straight boom excavator to its lineup of demolition tools.

The 38-ton EC380EL provides higher reach through its 23-foot straight boom and purpose-built arm, and has superior stability and lifting capabilities thanks to a 10,000 kilogram counterweight, which is hydraulically removable for easy machine transport.

“When our customers ask for additional reach without sacrificing stability or performance, we work hard to make it happen,” said Tony den Hoed, national Demolition account director, for Volvo CE, in a release. “The EC380E Straight Boom is a great example. Added reach while protecting operators means demolition contractors can now take on even more challenging jobs with total confidence.”

Along with the higher reach, the EC380EL’s cab is protected from falling debris with a frame-mounted Falling Objects Guard. A dust suppression system, featuring a 30 litres-per-minute lifting pump that feeds water to four arm-based nozzles is available, and LED lights on both the boom and platform come standard for improved nighttime visibility.
