Lethbridge & District Exhibition has picked Ward Bros. Construction Ltd. to take on a major redevelopment project at the agriculture hub and event venue.

The local contractor will be responsible for managing construction of the $62 million initiative that will double the site’s current capacity to roughly 7,000 guests, allowing Exhibition Park to host larger national and international events.

“Throughout the selection process, we were incredibly impressed with Ward Bros. Construction’s commitment to delivering more than a building, but also their dedication to delivering on a shared vision for what a facility like this will mean to this region,” said Mike Warkentin, COO for the Lethbridge & District Exhibition, in a release “Ward Bros. has shown exceptional community leadership throughout the region on all of its projects.”

Construction on the new 268,000 sq. ft. facility is expected to take 22 months and employ approximately 350 workers.
