TransCanada awards $2.8B in contracts to deliver natural gas pipeline for proposed LNG facility

VANCOUVER—TransCanada Corporation has conditionally awarded four contracts totalling $2.8 billion to construct the Coastal GasLink pipeline project.

The 670-kilometre pipeline will deliver natural gas from the Dawson Creek area of northern B.C. to the proposed LNG Canada natural gas liquefaction facility in Kitimat, B.C.

Selected contractors – Surerus Murphy Joint Venture, SA Energy Group, Macro Spiecapag Joint Venture and Pacific Atlantic Pipeline Construction Inc., part of the Bonatti group – will hire a projected 2,500 workers over the four-year construction period.

The contractors have local offices in the Fort St. John, B.C., Vancouver and Calgary areas, as well as internationally.
