Mapping out Montreal’s future

A public consultation forum using Google Earth is allowing Montreal residents to voice their opinions, ideas and concerns about future projects being tabled by the Montreal Development Plan (MDP).

YouSayCity is a free online platform that allows the public to view 17 potential urban projects in the city over the next 20 years – from different angles and placement in the city – on an interactive 3-D map. The website allows users to share and discuss projects, and create content by adding links, images and 3-D models.

To help Montrealers navigate the new platform, the Office de consultation publique de Montréal has added the first three in a series of four tutorials, and the remaining tutorial will be added next week.

Developed by Pierre Beaudreau, YouSayCity has had over 1,800 unique visitors since it launched in June. It is open to residents for another month, then all the comments and opinions will be taken into account and considered along with written briefs, opinions presented orally at the meetings, and answers to the public consultation questionnaire.
