HD Hyundai wins CES innovation awards

Advances in automating collision avoidance on construction jobsites have won HD Hyundai XiteSolution a pair of CES 2024 Innovation Awards. The company’s Smart Collision Mitigation with Sensor Fusion and X-Agent offerings were recognized in the “Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility” and “Mobile Devices, Accessories & Apps” categories. Related company Avikus, also won in the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility class for its NeuBoat Navi system for recreational boating.
Smart Collision Mitigation with Sensor Fusion is a system that reduces the risk of jobsite accidents by automatically stopping the machine when detecting people or objects within a certain range of the excavator.
The company says that the platform makes it the first construction equipment manufacturer in the world to use fusion technology to supplement a machine’s cameras and radars, explaining that the technology greatly elevates accuracy in detecting obstacles and distance from equipment compared to machines with a single sensor.
The company’s X-Agent is an AI-based machine-assistance solution for excavators, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and other construction equipment that uses HD Hyundai’s unmanned automation technology.
The technology self-recognizes and judges equipment information, site environment and work plan using AI to provide optimized machine operation guidance to the operator. Remote control is also an option for tasks at jobsites that are restricted for limited time and space constraints.
The CES Innovation Awards are an annual competition held by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) to honour products featuring outstanding technologies and innovation. The awards are announced each year ahead of CES, the world’s largest IT and consumer electronics trade show held in Las Vegas, Nev.

HD Hyundai, parent company of HD Hyundai XiteSolution, which markets construction equipment in North America under the DEVELON and Hyundai Construction Equipment brands, is exhibiting at CES 2024, from January 9 to 12, in booth number 4517 of the West Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
