MISSISSAUGA, Ont.—Bird Construction Inc. has won a new contract to take the lead on construction of a new two-building mixed-use project in Halifax.

The construction management deal with Westwood Construction is worth $140 million. The Mississauga, Ont.-based contractor released other few details about the development on the East Coast city’s North End, but said the project involves the construction of two new towers with two levels of underground parking.

“Westwood Construction is a new client for Bird and we are pleased to be given this opportunity to further enhance our relationship with them and to be building a marquis project in downtown Halifax,” Teri McKibbon, the company’s president and CEO, said in a release. “This contract highlights our success in diversifying our work program and balancing the risk profile of our backlog across the country.”

Work on the project is expected to take three years.
