Five models at the larger end of the Cat cold planer line are getting upgrades to help customers save on operating costs and simplify work on-site.

Caterpillar said this March it has introduced improvements to the PM620, PM622, PM820, PM822 and PM825 for 2021, marking the third update to the line since it was first introduced five years ago.

With the upgrades, Cat has focused on machine operation. The integrated Cat Grade with Grade and Slope system, for instance, helps operators accurately with the assistance of automated features such as obstacle jump.

Keeping the planers in service for longer is another priority area. As part of the latest update, Cat has introduced longer lasting conveyor flashing, improved rotor drive access, corded pendant for the rotor turning device and an added wear shoe for the inboard ski, among other features.

For improved visibility on the job site during nighttime operations, new, expanded LED lighting comes standard. Perimeter lights are also available.
