LIVERPOOL, England—A disgruntled worker wrecked the lobby of an under-construction hotel with a mini excavator Jan. 21 after his paycheque came up short.

In a viral video, the worker can be seen ramming through the front entrance of a Travelodge in Liverpool, England, proceeding to destroy the reception area.

The man then attempted to drive away from the scene only to be met by an onslaught of workers blocking his path, going so far as grab onto the back of the vehicle while the driver swung from side to side. He then exited the vehicle and took off on foot.

Triton Construction, the principal contractor on the project, said in a statement that that worker was employed by MF Construction, a sub-contractor for the job.

“It is our understanding that one of the labourers… had been waiting for his manager to arrive with his wages, which he told other workers on site were overdue,” the company stated. “It is alleged that the labourer couldn’t track down the owner of MF Construction and he became increasingly frustrated.”

An ongoing investigation into the incident is currently underway by police. Triton stated that there were no injuries to staff members or other workers on site, and the incident resulted in no structural damage.
