Shawn Henn has joined American Global as the firm’s vice-president of risk engineering services in Canada. The company says the hiring will further expand its capabilities in the region, helping clients reduce risk by shaping and implementing comprehensive health and safety and risk management strategies across their organizations, from board rooms to jobsites.

A seasoned professional with more than 25 years’ experience in risk mitigation and loss prevention, Henn has a track record of developing successful programs that increase efficiencies while maintaining unwavering commitments to safety, production and quality.

As a former Red Seal sheet metal journeyman, he also brings a unique perspective to the role, understanding the true needs and challenges facing construction industry clients based on his hands-on experience and keen analytical abilities. As such, he is able to examine historical and predictive indicators to assess challenges and offer innovative solutions.

Prior to joining American Global, Henn worked as a health and safety consultant following his long career at Trotter and Morton Group of Companies.

“I am delighted to have an individual of Shawn’s caliber join the American Global team in Canada. As a firm, we have always focused on construction, adding non-traditional resources that provide added value for our clients,” stated Kent Peters, president of American Global Canada. “Shawn’s extensive background in safety and risk management brings unique expertise which augments that of our talented insurance and surety team, expanding our capacity to produce better outcomes and provide a broader range of services to clients in Canada and beyond.”

“I look forward to shifting my perspective from a reactive, client-focused standpoint to a more proactive role where I can assess challenges, identify opportunities, and take initiatives to mitigate risk,” said Henn. “By providing clients with the knowledge and tools they need, I empower them to operate with greater foresight, leading to better outcomes. I am excited for the opportunity to make an impact and serve as a positive influence for both my colleagues and our clients.”
