CCA names incoming president

Rod Gilbert will be the next president of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). Gilbert, currently the senior vice-president of public affairs and procurement practices with the association, will succeed current president, Mary Van Buren, on May 1.
Last fall, Van Buren announced her intention to step down to pursue other interests. Her last day as president will be April 30.Upon her announcement, CCA’s Board of Directors established a subcommittee to conduct a search for the next president, undertaking a selection process that included input from an external HR professional.
In making their decision, CCA Board chair Brendan Nobes noted that the Board considered the significant impact Gilbert has had at CCA over the past six years, citing his advocacy work to raise CCA’s profile with the federal government, as well as the knowledge he has developed in best practices in contracting while overseeing the Canadian Construction Documents Committee.
“I am excited to take on this new role and want to thank the board and sub-committee for their trust and confidence, and I want to thank Mary for her leadership and mentorship over the last six years,” said Gilbert. “I am ready to lead CCA forward to demonstrate the value of our industry and have our members’ voices heard and their contribution to Canada properly recognized.”
