Canada Green Building Council has launched an online LEED project profiles database in honour of World Green Building Week, which runs from Sept. 16 to 20.

The database celebrates Canadian accomplishments in green building by showcasing the more than 4,000 LEED projects currently registered and certified in Canada.

Canada ranks second in the world behind the U.S. for most completed LEED certifications.

“Profiling these projects demonstrates to the international community the depth of green building expertise, products and technologies in the Canadian marketplace,” said Thomas Mueller, president and CEO of Canada Green Building Council.

In its fourth year, World Green Building Week is an annual celebration organized by the World Green Building Council. This year’s theme is “Greener Buildings, Better Places, Healthier People.”

Currently there are Green Building Councils in 98 countries representing more than 25,000 organizations.

“World Green Building Week showcases how green buildings are reducing the global carbon footprint, saving money and improving productivity, creating jobs and improving the lives of millions of people,” said Jane Henley, CEO of the World Green Building Council. “Green buildings play a fundamental role in addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time.”
