A new partnership between a pair of Toronto-based construction software firms aims to bolster the risk management practices of general contractors.

CMiC said Aug. 10 it will integrate the Compass prequalification platform from Bespoke Metrics into its existing prequalification module. The relatively new tool from Bespoke Metrics collects and analyzes data from subcontractors, helping GCs more carefully assess risk when selecting subs for a project.

“Prequalification is the critical first step in managing project risk,” said Oliver Ritchie, vice-president of Technology & Innovation at CMiC, in a release. “Integrating COMPASS into our prequalification module allows us to offer a comprehensive solution to our customers while strengthening their subcontractor prequalification process within our platform.”

Among other facets of the Compass platform, Bespoke Metrics classifies subcontractors using what’s known as a Q Score. The score puts a number to the combined financial, business and health and safety records of a sub, helping GCs determine which parter has the bandwidth to take on what project.
