ABBOTSFORD, B.C.—Construction is underway on a $27.5 million project to widen Mt. Lehman Road in Abbotsford, B.C.
Key-West Asphalt, based in Surrey, B.C., was awarded the $12.49 million contract to expand the road, which offers a direct link to the Abbotsford International Airport.
Slated for completion in late 2019, the project will see Mt. Lehman Road between Great Northern Avenue and the Abbotsford Airport widened from two lanes to four.
A dedicated southbound left-turn lane at the Mt. Lehman Road/Simpson Road intersection will be constructed, and a signal will be added to the Mt. Lehman Road/Marshall Road intersection. The Marshall Road Extension will also be realigned.
The project has received $8.375 million in funding from the federal government and $17.125 million from B.C. The City of Abbotsford is supplying the remaining $2 million.
