HD Hyundai adds dealer in Dartmouth

Hurricane Industrial Equipment, in Dartmouth, N.S., is now representing Hyundai compact construction equipment products throughout the Halifax area and peninsular Nova Scotia south and west of Halifax.
From its beginnings as a used forklift dealership in 1990, Hurricane Industrial Equipment has grown into a leading provider of industrial material handling equipment in Nova Scotia. President and CEO John Patterson acquired the company in 2007 and is leading the company’s expansion into construction equipment.
“We’re in a highly competitive market for compact construction equipment,” Patterson explained. “It’s a natural for us to represent Hyundai for construction equipment, because of the long, successful relationship we’ve had with the Hyundai forklift business. It’s a brand our customers know and trust. Plus, the Hyundai product line of compact excavators, skid steers and compact track loaders is a great fit, not only for our existing customers, but for a wide range of other equipment users.”
Patterson has singled out construction, landscaping and resource-based material handling applications as areas of focus for Hurricane Industrial’s construction equipment sales and rental efforts.
The dealer will sell and service Hyundai compact construction equipment from its full-service facility in Dartmouth as it evaluates options for establishing a new facility specifically for its construction equipment operations.
In addition to its Dartmouth location, Hurricane Industrial also has locations in Mount Pearl, N.L., and Saint John, N.B.
