Peter Filato has joined WSP in Canada as its new chief financial officer. Prior to joining WSP, Filato, who is based out of the firm’s Montreal office, was previously the CFO at Telecon, a leading telecom network design and construction firm and connectivity services provider.

“Throughout his career, Peter has acquired a remarkable experience in senior financial positions,” stated Marie-Claude Dumas, president and CEO of WSP in Canada. “Peter is a strong leader of teams, with excellent relationship-building skills that motivate his teams towards shared success.”

Filato has more than 25 years of experience in finance, starting as an auditor, eventually moving into various finance roles at SNC-Lavalin and later moving to Alcan. After his time at Alcan, he joined Gildan Activewear where he spent 13 years, eventually becoming the CFO-manufacturing and leading teams in finance, IT, procurement and legal.

He has led several acquisitions and ERP implementations, including adopting the Lean Six Sigma methodology for which he is a certified black belt. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a post-graduate diploma in accountancy, both earned at Montreal’s Concordia University.
