The Ontario government has adopted upgraded bridge design codes in CSA S6.

The 11th edition of CSA S6 applies to the design, evaluation and structural rehabilitation design of fixed and movable highway bridges. It establishes safety and reliability levels that are consistent across all jurisdictions in Canada.

The latest edition includes significant changes to sections covering seismic design, methods of analysis, foundations and geotechnical systems, barriers and highway accessories and more.

CSA S6 makes it easier for consultants and the construction industry to respond to calls for proposals and supports the implementation of a national highway transportation system with agreed minimum standards and loadings for bridges on inter-provincial highways.
