Bird Heavy Civil Ltd. announces winners of its Aboriginal Scholarship Program for 2017

Bird Heavy Civil Ltd. awarded three scholarships valued at $1,500 dollars each earlier this month. The recipients are:

Alexandria Parsons is a Qalipu First Nations member from Burgeo, NL and is currently enrolled in the civil engineering technology program at the College of the North Atlantic (CONA) in Corner Brook, NL. She describes herself as a hands-on person and has always been interested in aspects of construction and design of infrastructure.

Rebecca Ramey is a NunatuKavut member from Happy Valley Goose, NL and is currently enrolled in the nursing program at the Centre for Nursing Studies at Memorial University in St. John’s, NL. Living an active lifestyle through organized sports such as hockey, Rebecca believes once she is a certified nurse she will find great satisfaction helping others.

Maxwell Saksagiak is a Nunatsiavut member from Nain, NL and is currently enrolled in the carpentry program at Academy Canada in St. John’s, NL. He says he chose his field of study based on the current housing crisis in his community. Maxwell wants to develop his community land, while also preserving the culture.
