The latest paving platform from Trimble is designed to increase productivity and help asphalt paving contractors move beyond stringlines. The tech firm introduced Trimble Roadworks 3D Paving Control Platform for Asphalt Pavers this month, making it available globally through its Sitech distribution channel.

Leveraging the Trimble machine control interface, Kevin Garcia, general manager for Trimble Civil Construction Specialty Solutions, said the new automatic 3D screed control system is easy to learn for a wide range of contractors. “This platform also makes it possible to include Trimble’s industry-leading paving technology as part of a connected site ecosystem of solutions, which is valuable for complex infrastructure projects,” he said in a release.

The new platform is an Android-based application that runs on the 10-inch touch-screen Trimble TD520 display. The company said Trimble users will find a familiar, intuitive interface each operator can personalize. With the Android base, users can also download third-party apps to supplement the platform.
