Combining the tread designs of a forestry tire, wheel loader tire and ATV tire, a new crossover tire from Titan International aims to provide wheel loaders in construction and agriculture traction in the toughest, muckiest conditions.
The tire maker said its new HK 458 hybrid wheel loader tire is available in two sizes, suited for mid-size wheel loaders from all the OEMs.
“For the HK 458, we gleaned designed elements from our tried-and-true forestry and construction bias tires while incorporating our latest design and manufacturing technology,” Matt Miller, tire technology manager for Titan, said in a release. “We also developed a bead design that improves the resistance indexing in high torque applications but still fits the standard OTR wheel.”
Designed to self-clean, the E4/L-4 dual-rated bias tire aims to prevent loaders from losing their grip in muddy conditions.
