Trimble has announced that its new X7 3D laser scanner and FieldLink software are now fully integrated with Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot, delivering a turnkey solution for autonomous operation on construction sites. It’s especially valuable given the robot’s unique capabilities to navigate challenging, dynamic and potentially unsafe environments.
Employing Trimble’s 3D data capturing technology, Spot offers continuous information flow between the field and the office to facilitate consistent and ongoing documentation of jobsite progress.
“The relationship between Trimble and Boston Dynamics is really special,” says Thai Nguyen, director of Virtual Design and Construction, Hensel Phelps. “Users don’t have to figure out the integration of the scanner. It also enables us to work with only one vendor.”
