Manitou extends its reach with four mobile elevating work platforms

The Manitou Group has released four straight boom Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), the Manitou TJ 65, TJ 65+, TJ 80+ and TJ 85, into the North American market.

Features of the new models include smooth platform operation, three steering modes, proportionate hydraulic movements, constant rotational control that adjusts according to the boom extension, 360 degree rotation and optional 4-wheel, 2-wheel or crab steering modes.

“These new TJ models are engineered with the customer in mind, incorporating new innovative features in safety and performance,” Mike Sover, product line manager for MEWPs at Manitou Group, said in a release. “Operators can quickly make multiple movements at the same time, from changing the platform direction to lifting the boom and rotating the machine.”

The new straight boom models are available in lift heights from 19.7 to 25.75 metres. The TJ 65+ and the TJ 80+ come standard with a 2.3 by 0.9 metres platform designed to hold three people, allowing up to 900 pounds capacity unrestricted.

All four models are powered by a Kubota 49.6 hp diesel engine and have a front oscillating axel for additional driving power. They have all been manufactured with the new safety requirements and do not need to be retrofitted.

Machine maintenance is done using a self-diagnostic panel at ground level. Manitou’s EasyMANAGER telematics system allows the user to manage the unit’s location, maintenance cycles and service warnings.
