Hamm will be presenting its HC series of compactors at bauma 2022. With operating weights of 11 to 25 tons (24,251 to 55,115.6 lb.) and a wide range of equipment variants, the earthwork roller machines bring together the company’s two previous compactor series to one platform.

Diesel engine power varies between 85 and 160 kW, depending on the weight, and all models feature a 2,140 mm (84.3”) drum width. In comparison to predecessor models, Hamm has increased the compaction power, raising the centrifugal force by up to 15 per cent with the static linear load as high as 80.6 kg/cm (451.6 lb./in).

Additional innovations include a new cast articulated joint with articulated joint lock that allows for a greater steering and swing angle with improved kinematics, a redesigned scraper, and a significant increase in clearance on the drum, meaning that no material can accumulate there, which eliminates cleaning work.

In the dark, standard LED lights light up the environment in all working situations. The roller meets the requirements for the field of vision in accordance with DIN EN 474, and a large additional mirror with proximity detection on the cab improves the view of the immediate environment.

The company’s “Smart Doc” app, which was developed by Hamm, graphically displays all of the key compaction parameters as well as the compaction progress and logs the measured rigidity as well as the position data.
