A new 4.5-litre John Deere PowerTech EWL engine will provide more power and improved torque to the Deere’s L-Series backhoe loaders.

The equipment manufacturer introduced the updated Tier 4 Final engine for the 310L, 310SL, 315SL, 310SL HL and 410L last month, boosting horsepower across all models, while also removing the exhaust gas recirculation system and components to improve reliability.

“These upgrades build upon the best features found on the L-Series machines, resulting in a lineup designed to power through the toughest jobs,” said Brian Hennings, product manager with John Deere Construction & Forestry.

Along with the engine update, Deere also improved filter locations, introduced an LED boom light kit and integrated a redesigned loader lever for reduced resistance. Other updates and improvements to individual models throughout the line are also included.
