The latest model in John Deere’s excavator lineup focuses on reducing fuel burn without sacrificing performance.

Outfitted with 145-horsepower (108 kW) Final Tier 4 John Deere PowerTech PSS 4.5-liter engine, the new 200G reduces fuel consumption by 11 per cent, compared with the 210G.

“Many of our customers are balancing tight budgets with the need for maximum power and productivity on the job,” Jonny Spendlove, excavator product marketing manager with John Deere Construction & Forestry, said in a release. “With the new 200G excavator, we are giving our customers the best of both worlds.”

The new model has several adjustable power modes that automatically change the machine’s engine and pump settings to suit operator needs. It also includes faster swing speed as a result of efficiencies built into its hydraulic system.
