A new product from Autodesk Inc. will let estimators carry out 2D and 3D quantification workflows working off a common data environment to help increase accuracy, streamline and collaboration during the estimating process.

Autodesk Takeoff joins Autodesk Build and Autodesk BIM Collaborate as part of the unified Autodesk Construction Cloud platform, the company said March 9.

“The takeoff process has historically been disjointed, cumbersome and time consuming, which creates a lack of transparency, missed deadlines and an increase in errors,” said Sameer Merchant, vice-president of construction technology at Autodesk, in a release. “With an integrated 2D and 3D quantification solution that leverages Autodesk Construction Cloud’s centralized document management, Autodesk Takeoff enables teams to update quantities in real-time and ensure they’re working from the latest design files.”

Merchant added the speedier process with fewer errors should lead to more compelling bids and more future work.

Along with working across both 2D and 3D quantification workflows and with cloud-based document management, the new platform allows for multi-user access, meaning more than one estimator can simultaneously access the same project files.

Takeoff is now available globally.
