Infrastructure Ontario is looking to pre-qualify construction teams for an upcoming hospital project in Grimsby, Ont.

The crown agency and the Hamilton Health Sciences issued a request for qualifications for the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital redevelopment Nov. 26. The project will replace the roughly 70-year-old site with a larger, modern facility.

Being delivered using the P3 model, the winning consortium will be responsible for designing, building and financing the new hospital. An emergency department, maternal and newborn care, and community surgery are among the key services the redeveloped hospital will provide.

In its most recent P3 Market Update this fall, IO estimated the cost for the project at between $200 million and $499 million.

Bidders interested in taking on the redevelopment work in the city midway between Hamilton and St. Catharines have until January to respond to the RFQ.

IO said it expects to release a shortlist of bidders and issue a request for proposals (RFP) for the project by mid-2021.
