A $25 million hospital project is underway in Pugwash, N.S.

Lloyd Hines, Nova Scotia’s minister of Transportation and Active Transit joined hospital staff and community members July 12 to officially break ground on the new health care facility.

The North Cumberland Memorial Hospital will replace an aging site of the same name that opened in 1966. Space for primary, urgent and outpatient care is planned, along with lab and diagnostic imaging services.

Avondale Construction Ltd. is leading construction on the new hospital for the village on the Northumberland Strait. Following the official groundbreaking, crews are scheduled to get to work on-site this month.
