All tiers of government back new $53M recreational complex in King, Ont.

A project to build a new recreational complex with a pair of NHL-sized ice rinks, a six-lane pool, walking track and fitness space is set to get underway in King, Ont. with backing from all three levels of government.

The federal, provincial and municipal governments announced support for the $53 million project May 21, with Ottawa committing $21.1 million, Queen’s Park agreeing to spend $17.6 million and the Township of King picking up the remaining $14.1 million tab.

Along with the indoor space, several baseball diamonds and soccer fields are also planned at the site.

Details about the construction timeline have not yet been released.
