Canadian contractors Graham Group Ltd. and Aecon Group Inc. have won an approximately $20 million contract for part of a major renewal project at a water treatment plant in central Saskatchewan.

Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant Corp. announced the joint venture as the winning bidder of a design services contract for the facility’s wider Plant Renewal Project June 3. The treatment plant, owned by the cities of Regina and Moose Jaw, anticipates the design phase will wrap up by the end of 2021, with construction starting in early in 2022, pending funding.

The latest cost estimates for the wider retrofit work at the treatment plant amounts to approximately $220 million. Once shovels hit the ground, construction is expected to take about three years.
