East Broughton enjoys the benefits of new water infrastructure

The community of East Broughton is enjoying the benefits of new water infrastructure thanks to joint funding by the governments of Canada and Quebec. These enhancements will improve the quality of life of residents and promote sustainable development and prosperity for the municipality.

Members of parliament marked the completion of the first stage of work by announcing $1,165,700 in joint funding for the municipality of East Broughton for this project.

The project entailed the replacement water supply, wastewater and storm drain mains under several streets, among them Avenue Notre Dame, Rue Pelletier and Rue Principale. It also included road repairs and site restoration. The result of the work for East Broughton is nearly 800 metres of renovated mains.

“The Government of Quebec provides municipalities with consistent support to allow them to offer solid modern infrastructure. The completion of this project will enhance public services for East Broughton residents in a tangible, sustainable way, contributing, in the process, to a higher quality of life,” said Laurent Lessard, Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Electrification of Transportation and MNA for Lotbinière-Frontenac.

The governments of Canada and Quebec each provided $582,850 through the Small Communities Fund of the New Building Canada Fund, Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure component.
