
43-year-old worker killed by falling material on Welland, Ont. construction site

Health & SafetyAn investigation is underway after a worker on a Welland, Ont. construction site was killed by falling material Nov. 12.
Police, as well as Welland Fire and emergency medical services teams, responded to an “industrial accident” Tuesday afternoon at a job site near King Street and Second Street.
A 43-year-old man was found in critical condition. Niagara Regional Police Service said a piece of construction material had fallen and struck the worker. The man was transported to hospital, but was pronounced dead.
Few other details about the incident have been released, but police said the man was not a resident of Niagara region. Local media report a retirement residence is being at the site.
Police and Ministry of Labour investigations are ongoing.
