Mississauga, Ont. has secured $113.5 million from the federal and provincial governments for a series of transit infrastructure projects across the city.

A municipal commitment of $44.5 million brings the total investment to $158 million, with roughly a third of that figure going toward a Bus Rapid Transit project along Mississauga’s waterfront thoroughfare. The project will create a dedicated two-way bus corridor on Lakeshore Road between East Avenue and Deta Road with three new stations as well as separated bike lanes and sidewalks.

The funding agreement, announced Jan. 21, will also support improvements to 88 of the city’s existing bus shelters, bus rehabilitations and a range of other upgrades tied to transit.

A full breakdown of the spending is available here.
