Several big changes are coming to the equipment lineup at SMS Equipment Inc.

The company announced Oct. 1 it will begin carrying Bomag’s compaction and paving equipment, as well as Cemen Tech’s volumetric concrete mixers and cement storage silos. The dealership agreement with Cemen Tech is effective immediately, while the deal with Bomag will kick in Dec. 1.

SMS said it expects the pair of new agreements to expand its road construction offering across its 38-branch Canadian network.

“SMS Equipment focuses on providing solutions and ensuring our road construction customers have access to the best products,” Mike Granger, SMS Equipment’s president and CEO, said in a release. “We represent world-class companies that also view customer support as their primary goal. Both BOMAG and Cemen Tech share our commitment to customer value, product innovation, and helping our customers thrive, and we look forward to growth through these dealership agreements.”

As it adds Bomag and Cemen Tech to its roster, SMS and Wirtgen America Inc. are going their separate ways.

The two companies have mutually agreed to terminate their distribution agreement for Wirtgen, Hamm, Vogele and Kleemann brand equipment.

Starting Nov. 30, SMS will stop being an authorized Wirtgen Group dealer. At the end of January and February, respectively, SMS will no longer be a Wirtgen-authorized service centre and supplier of OEM parts. The two companies said they will be coordinating to ensure the transition is “smooth and not disruptive.”
