The biennial event was scheduled to take place in Moncton, N.B. in early April

The Atlantic Heavy Equipment Show will not take place April 2-3 as originally planned.

The high-profile East Coast event has been postponed as Canadian governments ramp up their responses to COVID-19, commonly called coronavirus.

In a note to exhibitors March 16, Mark Cusack, the national show manager for organizer Master Promotions, said the risk involved is too high.

Across the country, governments have begun limiting the size of gatherings and asking residents to avoid unnecessary social engagements to combat the spread of the virus.

Master Promotions has started talks with the City of Moncton as well as New Brunswick health authorities to look at options for a new date, though it expects the process will take some time.

The Moncton, N.B. event is one of many to be postponed or cancelled as coronavirus grips countries around the world.
