INDIANAPOLIS—Thousands from the asphalt and aggregates industries flocked to Indianapolis this week for World of Asphalt 2019 and the co-located AGG1 Academy & Expo.

Messy winter weather throughout the Midwest failed to keep the crowds away from the Indiana Convention Center Feb. 12-14 as the number of registered attendees climbed to 10,063. The record-setting tally is 28 per cent higher than the 2018 show held in Houston. The combined shows spanned just over 200,000 sq. ft. of floor space, with approximately 500 exhibitors.

“It’s been a great show with a lot of interaction on the show floor and in the education sessions; this is where our industry comes together — competitors and peers, to prepare for future growth,” said Kevin Kelly, president of Walsh & Kelly and chair of World of Asphalt 2019.

Expo goers from all 50 U.S. states and each of Canada’s 10 provinces were in attendance to take in the latest products and technologies for the aggregates, asphalt, pavement maintenance and traffic safety sectors.

Show organizers are already marking their calendars for the March 2021 show, which will take place in Atlanta.
