RICHMOND, B.C.— Vancouver International Airport broke ground on its $9.1 billion multi-year expansion that will see the airport complete 75 major projects over the next two decades.
Projects include the installation of geo-exchange systems, expansion of the airport’s domestic and transborder terminals and construction of a parkade and central utilities building. Construction on a new international pier will begin in 2018.
Vancouver Airport Authority expects construction activities will create nearly 2,500 full-time construction jobs by the end of 2018.
