Trudeau announces federal funding for $285M highway-twinning project in N.S.

Construction Financing RoadsSUTHERLANDS RIVER, N.S.—Safety-related upgrades to a section of Highway 104 in northeast Nova Scotia has received $90 million from the federal government.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the contribution Tuesday in Sutherlands River, N.S. The Government of Nova Scotia will provide an additional $195 million.
A 38-kilometre stretch of the highway will be twinned between Sutherlands River, Pictou County and Antigonish.
The project also includes a new 10-kilometre four-lane highway between Barneys River and James River, south of the existing Highway 104.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2020, and the province plans to have the highway-twinning component of the project complete by 2024.
