By STAFF REPORT
Construction Skills DevelopmentToronto has been selected to host the 20th annual Skills Canada National Competition.
The event brings together hundreds of Canada’s top skilled trade and technology students, all vying to be the best in the country and for the chance to represent Canada at the 2015 WorldSkills competition in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
The 2014 Skills Canada National Competition is being held at the International Centre in Toronto, Ont. from June 4 to 7, featuring more than 40 different trades. It is the only event young Canadians can be tested against exacting industry standards.
The competition provides employment-based and experiential learning opportunities for students, school groups and the public. From construction, mobile robotics and cabinet making, to fashion technology, mechatronics and aircraft maintenance, young career-seekers and visitors can try their hand at a skilled trade in the interactive Try-a-Trade and Technology activities.
Networking opportunities with employers and recruiters, industry associations, labour groups, training institutes and government partners are also available.
