Three companies shortlisted for Humber College commons building

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) recently announced the shortlist of companies for the design, building and financing of Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning’s new Learning Resource Commons, a facility designed to offer academic support and a variety of other student services at Humber College’s North Campus, located in Etobicoke, Ont..

The pre-qualified companies are:

– Integrated Team Solutions (construction by EllisDon Corp. and design by Canon Design).

– PCL Contractors Canada Inc. (construction by PCL Contractors Canada Inc. and design by B+H Architects).

– SNC-Lavalin Capital (construction by SNC-Lavalin Construction (Ontario) and Eastern Construction in a joint venture, and design by KPMB and architectsAlliance in a joint venture).

The new building will also become the main entrance of Humber’s North Campus and have the capacity to accommodate more than 2,200 students.

Features of the building include: group and independent study space, an expanded library, enhanced student services and a student gallery and showcase.

The project is proceeding under IO’s Alternative Financing and Procurement model.

A request for proposals is expected to be issued to the three companies in late June 2012.
