Infrastructure Ontario and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute have shortlisted five companies to build and finance the Heart Institute Cardiac Life Support Services redevelopment project.

The project will expand the facility to improve access to high quality specialized cardiac services for residents in the Champlain Local Health Integration Network region.

The following companies were shortlisted based on a request for qualifications process that began in September 2013.

  • Bondfield Construction Co. Ltd.
  • EllisDon Capital Inc.
  • M. Sullivan & Son Ltd.
  • PCL Constructors Canada Inc.
  • Pomerleau Inc.

New construction at the facility will add five floors of clinical and in-patient services, expand support services such as biomedical engineering and data services, and add about 146,000 sq. ft. of space, close to 90,000 of which will house life support services such as cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery and the cardiac surgery intensive care unit.

Redevelopment work at the existing facility will relocate the cardiac imaging suite, renovate about 60,000 sq. ft. of space, and provide support services for the surgical suite, the cardiac intensive care unit, and the heart catheterization/electrophysiology suite.

The companies will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, expected to be issued this winter.
