November 1, 2013 by STAFF REPORT
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’ two-day public auction in Edmonton, Alta.—the largest in company history—broke a handful of records as more than 5,850 equipment items and trucks were sold for a total of $95 million.
The Oct. 29-30 auction saw the most items sold and the most sellers ever (840+) at a two-day auction worldwide, the most items ever sold in any Canadian auction and the highest gross auction proceeds.
More than 6,450 bidders from 53 countries, including all Canadian provinces and two territories, and 43 U.S. states registered to bid. All equipment was sold by unreserved auction, with no minimum bids or reserve prices. Bids were made in person at the Edmonton auction site, online in real time at www.rbauction.com and by proxy.
